Lenovo ThinkPad T495: Finally Received!

Finally Received!

I received my ThinkPad T495 with AMD Ryzen 5 Pro 3500U last Friday. It believe is really worth it particularly for Software Developers! Just make sure you get a 32 GB RAM or more. See what the general specs of this device in my previous post Lenovo ThinkPad T495: Just Bought It!

From China

Initially I thought it would be assembled in Malaysia.

I wanted a ThinkPad T460

The only laptop I can directly compare my ThinkPad T495 with is a ThinkPad T460 laptop issued to me by my employer. It is a company laptop and it has been configured for maximum security and privacy protection for compliance. The configuration may affects the laptop’s overall performance and may make it run slower.

I know the comparison is unfair and even invalid. But I remember I really wanted a T460 (or something very similar) and thought of purchaing one until I saw the AMD Ryzen deals from Lenovo!

Battery Performance

The only setback I have is that the battery seems to stop charging when it reaches 80% full. However, it performs well and can last for 3-4 hours in “Battery Saver” mode with heavy usage, e.g., programming.

UPDATES: The reason why charging stops are 80% is because it is configured so in Lenovo Vantage

Overheating Issues

There seems to be no overheating issues with ThinkPad T495! I can say so because for my ThinkPad T460, I needed to purchase a vacuum exhaust fan to suck out heat from it when I work at home, i.e., home office.

Please note I did not encrypt my disk with BitLocker. I thought it is unnecessary.

UPDATES: I noticed I do not hear its fan

Why I am still using a vacuum exhaust fan if there are no overheating issues? Actually, there is really no need for it. However, I bought it for my T460. I might as well use it for my T495.
